Botofogo’s Dance Team
Contract
Purpose: The purpose of this performance group contract is to provide the students and parents with the expectations, rules and regulations necessary for the team to function properly. Students will perform at local events including: pageant entertainment, Relay for Life, parade, and more. The PG will have two classes (ballet is required and one other class) per week which will solely work on technique. The PG on Thursday nights will work on technique and rehearse as needed. Ages 7 and up only.
Focus: The primary focus of the dance team program is to provide students with a challenging yet enjoyable environment which emphasizes the development of both technical skills and good character. The program also aims to develop teamwork, sportsmanship, work ethic, and leadership skills. We expect each of our students to be a positive role model at the studio and in the community.
Goals:
•To build a strong foundation in dance.
•To develop a team spirit among all members of the competition teams, including parents, teachers, and other non-competition students who may be in some of your other non-competition classes.
•To perform in community events such as the Christmas Parade, Relay for Life, pageants and festivals.
•To prepare students for auditions for productions in the community.
Student Expectations:
1. Regular, punctual attendance in all classes. If a student is late or absent from class, the PARENT should call ahead to notify the teacher. A student who misses more than 5 classes will be ineligible to participate in the performance group
2. Students are to come to ALL classes dressed in proper dance attire and shoes as requested by the class instructor. Absolutely no jeans, sweatpants, or sweatshirts
3. All students are expected to attend ALL performances and rehearsals.
4. Cell phones must be turned OFF and out of sight during class. You can check your messages after class.
5. Students who are rude or disrespectful to staff, other students or businesses will be required to write a letter of apology and will have to attend a parent/teacher conference before being allowed to return to class.

6. Performance Group members are required to take: Ballet and one other class: jazz/hip hop or lyrical/contemporary.
Parent Expectations:
1. Parents are expected to talk about this contract with their child and help them to follow the rules and procedures throughout the year.
2. Parents are expected to bring their child to class on time and to adhere to the 5 absence attendance policy. If your child is going to be late or absent, please notify the instructor. Students who are habitually late or absent from class may be ineligible to participate.
This contract must be signed by at least one parent AND by the student and submitted by October 1, 2013. Students who do not return this contract will not be eligible to participate in classes until this contract is returned.
We have read the above contract and agree to follow the rules, procedures and expectations as stated in this contract.
