Flash Mob - May 17th
Flash Mob
Please
help us celebrate National Dance week on May 17th by participating in our
second annual flash mob. Rehearsals will
be from 9:00 until 11:00. Perform at Secret Location at 12:00 p.m. (It's a
great secret location!) Free and open to the public. All ages invited to attend.
To
celebrate how dance is part of life, and how it can be part of every person,
the National Dance Week Foundation encourages every city and town in the U.S.
to “get up and dance!” And how better to engage the public than to stage a
NDW-themed dance mob.
You
know what a dance mob is – the great videos you see on TV or on YouTube, where
in the middle of a run-of-the-mill public place, like a shopping mall or a
train station, a few people break out in dance… then a few more join in… then
more. And coincidentally, they all know the choreography! Of course it isn’t
coincidence, but it definitely is totally cool and is a real attention grabber.
And anybody can do it.

Revue Notes
Revue Notes
Please keep in mind that the
revue will be held June 6 & 7 with dress rehearsal on June 5. There will be rehearsals scheduled every day
that week.
Don’t forget to purchase your
items needed for the revue:
• Ballet classes: Pink ballet shoes with elastics sewn,
ballet pink tights, nude leotard (recommended for students 8 and up). Nude leotards help with quick changes.
• Jazz/Hip Hop: Black jazz sneakers, suntan tights, nude
leotard (recommended for students 8 and up).
Nude leotards help with quick changes.
• Lyrical: Lyrical shoes, suntan convertible tights. Nude leotard required.
• Tap: Black tap shoes (see website), suntan tights, nude
leotards leotard (recommended for students 8 and up). Nude leotards help with quick changes.
IMPORTANT: This year no parents
will be allowed backstage during the revue.
Space is very limited so we are requesting 3 parents to volunteer to
help back stage with each dance class.
The South Hill Junior Women’s Club will be volunteering at the event so
there will be plenty of help. Each
volunteer parent will be responsible for up 5 five children. This includes final dressing, hair and makeup
retouches, lining up, bathroom trips, keeping students quiet, and ensuring the
class as a whole is ready. A signup
sheet will be posted in May.
One pass to enter the revue
will be given per dancer. Backstage
volunteers can view dances from the green room television. Students under the age of 5 can leave after
their dance is complete (and hopefully watch the revue) IF they do not wish to
be at the curtain call finale. The
recital starts at 7:00 and will probably last about 2 hours so we know this
makes for late nights. Please keep all
of this in mind when preparing and planning.
A revue guide will be sent
home in May with helpful tips and reminders.
A bun making session will also be held in May.

Dance Shoes are for Dancing!
Dance Shoes are for Dancing!
Please DO NOT wear your
ballet, jazz/hip hop, tap or any dance shoes outside! We have several classes who dance with bare
feet. Dancing on a pebble without shoes
can be very painful. If you take care of
your dance shoes (by not wearing outside), the shoes will last longer. We also ask for all parents to try not to
step on dance floor in their street shoes.
We are trying to keep the floors clean.
We appreciate your help in this endeavorJ
